We help families learn new strategies and create opportunities to connect with other parents. Our parenting courses will help you be the best parent you can be.

Depending on the course, we have online and in-person options available. Online courses offer more flexibility for busy parents, but with the connectedness of being part of a small group. We help parents learn new strategies and create opportunities to connect with other parents.

Bookings are essential. Course fees for all courses except Keeping Kids in Mind are $20 per session and free for concession card holders.
Course material is an additional $5-10 depending on the course and all participants need to purchase a booklet.


Our Parenting Courses

My Kids & Me

This seven-week course is specifically designed for parents whose children are in out-of-home or kinship care. The course covers topics such as loss and grief, what it’s like for you, what it’s like for your kids, talking and listening and understanding the legal system.

Keeping Kids in Mind

Keeping Kids in Mind is a dynamic five-week course aimed at assisting separated/divorced parents support their children through this time of changes. It examines issues such as loss and grief, attachment, resilience and conflict resolution. Parents can register at keepingkidsinmind.org

Circle of Security Parenting

This five-week course explains how children look to their parents or caregivers for support; from safety and security to exploration. Learn to identify children's needs and how to promote secure attachment in children. Suitable for parents of children of all ages but focuses on infants and young children.

Tuning into Teens

This six-week course will help parents of tweens and teens to understand adolescence, be better at talking with your child, understanding your child more, help your teen learn to manage their emotions, help prevent behaviour problems and teach your teen to deal with conflict.

Tuning into Kids

This five-week course will help parents of pre-school and primary-aged children explore emotionally intelligent parenting. Including identifying and understanding emotions, using emotions during interactions, emotional awareness in problem-solving, and dealing with frustrations.

123 Magic & Emotion Coaching

In this three-week course, you will learn to engage your children’s cooperation by positively noticing and encouraging them, setting clear expectations and helping them develop frustration tolerance, resolving family conflict, and some simple calming strategies.

Emotion Coaching

A three-week in-depth focus on John Gottman’s emotion coaching; parents will gain an understanding of their own parenting style and how this impacts their children. For those who have attended 123 Magic & Emotion Coaching, this course will build on existing skills.

Bringing Up Great Kids

In this five-week course, parents will reflect on their parenting styles to enhance communication and positive interactions with their children. Topics include messages from our past; the child's brain; our children’s behaviour; and responding effectively.

Anxiety Coach

Anxiety in children is becoming the leading concern for parents and teachers alike and the rates of childhood anxiety are growing.  This three-week course helps parents understand how anxiety develops in children and how to counter its progress.

Parenting Course evaluations

In 2010 the Keeping Kids in Mind Post Separation Parenting program was externally evaluated by the Family Action Centre at Newcastle University.  Download the report: Evaluation of the Keeping Kids in Mind Group Work Program

In 2013 the My Kids and Me Parenting Program for parents whose children are in out-of-home care was externally evaluated by the Centre for Child Protection at the University of South Australia. Download the Report: Evaluation of My Kids and Me
